about

This first CD by Lee McClure from 2004 is his performance of electric flute arrangements of J.S. Bach, Ravel, John Coltrane, Rodgers & Hammerstein, and one original composition, “Cerulean Narrows”.

For his self-designed electric flute Lee has composed and performed an extensive repertoire since 1990. Playing a traditional silver flute with a microphone and pickup, Lee routes the sound through 12 processors and a sampler, which he controls with foot pedals. This can produce repeating echoes, deep bass, distortion, 3-octave glissandos, complex harmonies, plus drum samples that can be faded in and out.

Lee’s other electric flute works include:
* ROCK ADAGIO SUITE (2011) has a drum track with four live overdubs of electric flute > archive.org/details/rockadagiosuite2min44secv7
* FOR PAUL is a video of Lee performing his composition with accordionist William Schimmel in 2010 > archive.org/details/ForPaulfluteAccordion
* BLACK LIGHT is the 2011 CD of Lee's electric flute trio with Barry Wedgle on guitar and Eddie Hall on percussion > leemcclure.bandcamp.com/album/black-light
